Devon is pleased to join the team at the North Paulding cluster for the 2017-2018 school year.
As band director at McClure Middle School, she directs sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in Beginning Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. Jazz Band also continues to be an important part of the program.
Ms. Schmidt assists the North Paulding High School Marching Band during the marching season, including after school rehearsals and competitions the band attends.

ROME MIDDLE SCHOOL
7th Grade Band Director, Rome Middle School, Associate Band Director, Rome City Schools, July 2016 - May 2017
Ms. Schmidt oversaw a 200-plus member middle school marching band. Seventh and eighth grade students rehearsed and performed as a marching unit for home football games, the Peach State Marching Contest, and the Rome Christmas Parade.
Under her direction, the Rome Middle School seventh grade band received Superior (I) ratings on stage at the 2017 GMEA District VII LGPE. Her band also received Superior ratings in sight reading.
She directed the Rome Middle School "Red Jazz Band" as an auditioned group of seventh and eighth grade students. The Rome Middle School Jazz Bands perform at GMEA District VII Jazz Evaluation, as well as Rome's annual "Night of Dreams" jazz concert.
Devon worked closely with each of the Rome band directors to assist in the production of the Sound of the Seven Hills Rome High School Marching Band. She primarily worked with the visual needs of the ensemble and worked with the entire band during basic marching fundamentals throughout the marching season.
Ms. Schmidt's students consistently participated in GMEA events including District Honor Band, District Jazz Band, District Clinic Honor Band, and Solo and Ensemble.

Eastbrook Middle School
Band Director, August 2013 - May 2016
Eastbrook Middle School is located in Whitfield County, Georgia, in the city of Dalton, about 30 minutes south of Chattanooga, TN. It is a Title I school of 700 students, with 220 students in the band program.
Under Ms. Schmidt's direction, band students performed in various avenues throughout the school and community. Students played in a football pep band for school home football games and pep rallies. Pep band students had the opportunity to enjoy marching in the Dalton Christmas Parade in Downtown Dalton. Each fall, the eighth grade band performed a Veterans Day Program, involving the Dalton Fire Department Honor Guard and the Dalton-Whitfield Community band as featured guests for the community to enjoy. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade bands performed at winter and spring concerts. Select eighth grade students make up the Eastbrook Jazz Band, which was featured on winter and spring concerts and available to perform at local elementary school events. The Eastbrook Honor Band and Eighth Grade Band traveled to the district's Large Group Performance Evaluation, formerly known as "Festival."

Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps
Devon was a visual technician primarily for the trumpet section, consisting of 26 performers on the field. She was able to work with students from ages 15-21. She also ran marching basics blocks, taught and designed choreography, and consulted with members of the visual team on show design and execution.
